Russia was actually a major strategic partner of NATO in the 2000s and even tried to join at one point

U can argue that there being no need for nato is a good thing. But that ain't true with China and the rocket man

That was basically a joke. No one wanted them in NATO and they knew that. Russia is basically the whole reason NATO exists
