It’s less about the figure and more about the story Like if it’s a fictionalized or sensationalized retelling that has characters who were real, I don’t really care (Hamilton, Queen Charlotte and King George III in Bridgerton, The Great, any period drama really) But if you’re trying to present your content as historically accurate retellings, documentary material, or similar, it’s just being done in bad taste or to stir up controversy as a form of publicity and advertisement
So if a film goes into great lengths to find people that resemble the real life people for a majority of the cast, then randomly race swaps one or two people….why? Clearly it’s not about who’s the best actor/actress, it’s about who looks most similar, except for this one role..? Why? Just a bit weird imo And obviously there are characters who no matter what shouldn’t be swapped because their race is integral to the story and can never be retold in any way that removes that
