Notes on what tear gas feels like Flu levels of mucus out of nowhere Tears immediately (obviously) Burning airway, coughing Extremely chapped-esque irration sensation on eyes, lips and nose up to an hour later 0/10 experience, would do again if necessary

Even standing about 100 yards from popped gas, it felt like inhaling pepper spray. Everyone stay safe out there, especially our comrades with asthma

would bringing large hand fans be useful in a protest for things like this

Happened roughly 4 hours ago by this point, feeling pretty good. Only light irritation on the eyes still, after a cold shower. Definitely recommend cold wet cloth over straight water for relief on eyes immediately after exposure.

Gas is very hard to disperse. Civilians across town from the conflict were exhibiting the same heavy coughing on the train home I had.

If you have asthma, and the cops mask up, get out of there immediately. Its bad enough with normal lungs, I imagine its downright dangerous for asthma

Ngl people with asthma shouldn’t be anywhere in the area without a respirator on and a rescue inhaler nearby

Yea but sometimes the area appears where you are. There was a person with asthma in our group, and it was all good until the cops popped up.

why are you on the side of cops actually torturing asthmatic people here man

Notably the "fucking around" was exercising our right to assemble and (admittedly) blocking traffic. As far as Im aware, neither of those coordinate to the "find out" level known as chemical warfare.

Surely you mean Flight Attendant and First Officer, right???

The cops block traffic to stage for these protests, and tend to instigate. Blocking traffic is a completely valid form of civil disobedience and always has been.

I’ve heard that leaf blowers can help disperse/redirect gas. Of If I were asthmatic I might consider that to be part of my action kit.

Worth a shot given that this wont be the last time this happens

That is true, however in Minneapolis they charged those with leaf blowers for “redirecting chemical attacks onto cops”

Unlikely. Tear gas is heavy so its hard to disperse.

As someone else called out, leaf blower might work

unfortunately i don’t own one and wouldn’t be able to carry one. my dad or friend might be able to carry one if they have it tho, im going to one of the protests with about 3-4 friends and my parents plus if my fiancée is up for it her as well and she’s much more experienced with protests than the rest of us by a mile

Definitely stick together. If you can, go to home depot or lowes and get respirator masks and safety goggles. Tear gas is nasty stuff
