I certainly am not going to protest whatever sentence they give Brown, but it’s bizarre (and telling, of course) that conservatives have such a throbbing retributive justice boner for Brown in spite of the fact that there is no way to deter genuinely crazy people like Brown from doing stuff like this.

Locking up crazy people does not deter other crazy people, my guy. The state needs more resources invested in keeping track of violent, mentally unwell people so that we can institutionalize them if they appear to be unfit to coexist in society.
