I voted for Biden in 2020 and Harris in 2024. The Biden presidency, the 2024 election, the Democratic Party’s response to their losses, and the party’s response to Trump 2.0 has told me all I need to know about them.

They’re not weak. They’re incredibly strong. In fact they’re so incredibly effective at manipulating the public into supporting them even though they haven’t really gotten anything *lasting* done since 2008 and even then, that’s a far cry from people like FDR.

If they do nothing in office and roll over for Trump then they’re not worth my time. Maybe if the base bucks the entire DNC leadership apparatus and the party goes through an internal revolution. Yknow, whatever the opposite of what the did in 1989-1991 was, then sure. I might go back.

I thought if you had a poly sci degree you would know basic history. I guess not. Democrats can’t do any *lasting* legislation with out the proper support. We haven’t had a supermajority in congress since, oh wait, that’s right: 2008. Instead of blaming democrats who barely have legislative power every few years, why don’t you actually turn that energy into getting more seats for dems in red states.

We had a trifecta from 2021 to 2023 and the rotating group of democrats chosen by congressional leadership to oppose the legislation promised to their base prevented anything from getting done. Republicans barely have a majority in Congress and are still taking the country back decades. That’s such a bullshit answer dude lol.

All Trump does is feed them lies and manipulate them. If the democrats are the party of truth and morals and democracy and whatever it should be a piece of cake to simply draw people in with policies that support the working class, and actually get them done. If the party cannot bring itself to do that then I fail to see the point.

Dude😭, we had 50 seats plus a vp in the senate and four seats in the house. With FDR/2008 Obama type majorities, they could afford losing some moderate democrats. Biden could NOT. It’s as simple as that. The difference between democrats and republicans in their effectiveness is that dems actually pass legislation and follow the law, all republicans can do just cut and gut legislative spending and agencies, then spam out a shit ton of illegal EOs and pray to Trump.

The biggest problem is the republican media ecosystem is powerful. Mainstream news cucks out to Trump because they don’t want to seem biased, the right-wing alternative media hates dems, and all left-wing alternative media fucking hates democrats too. I don’t think you’re understanding my point here tho. Democrats have reliably failed to get anything their base wants done. Whether in power or even in opposition as we just saw in the past days. You’re painting them as victims of an electoral system as if this in not the very system they support. Yknow, at that point they’re simply losing at their own game and it would be wise to change strategy drastically

And at this point it’s been proven that they can’t win on simply opposing Trump if all they do in power is get nothing done. They need more than that. In addition, just as we saw under Biden, the democrats are completely inept at combating the rise of Neo-Nazism. If they cannot pivot and put policies that overtly ground their mission in supporting the working class and radically reshaping American life, then the people who want change will go to where they believe they can get it

Like even if Newsom genuinely opposes Trump, I don’t see him successfully quelling the rise of Neo Nazism. Especially if his admin gets nothing done for the working class. They’ll just get mad and vote MAGA back into power.

No, I don’t think you’re understanding my point. If you want good progressive policy to get passed, you have to get democrats comfortable margins to get it done. That is the truth. Democrats have policies that the working class supports if you just looked at them but unfortunately most of them think that trans people and immigrants are more of a problem because of the media they are fed.
