I like that this graph starts during capitalism and ends during capitalism. Here’s one from the same source with a more detailed view. Since extreme poverty is <$2 International per day, nearly nobody in America can be seen as living in “extreme poverty” since even beggars will tend to receive at least $2 in a day.

Also not to mention, the rising of population not in extreme poverty just so happens to coincide with the practices of forced conscription becoming unpopular, fighting for unionization (dilution of ‘pure’ capitalism), antitrust laws, wartime economies, and technological booms

Kinda hard to take this seriously with “slavery” being so small. We still have slaves and slave labor in America today regarding inmates

Nothing has increased human wellbeing more than the industrial revolution, which was closely linked to the rise of capitalism.

Your graph shows the same trend, the typical person has been getting better and better off since the dawn of capitalism.

nothing has increased human wellbeing more than the agricultural revolution, which was closely linked to tribal societies

Thats just not true, nearly everyone still lived in extreme poverty after the agricultural revolution. The gains in wealth were significantly smaller.

"still lived in extreme poverty" definition of poverty? the gains were huge, way more relative to the time than any other period

Using the same definition of less than $2 per day. Citation needed for the claim that the gains were way more.

why would you use a definition of poverty thousands of years removed from the times? holy statistical bias batman! citation needed for the claim "nothing has increased human wellbeing more than the industrial revolution, which was closely linked to the rise of capitalism"

It’s the standard definition used by economists for all time periods. The citation was the data I already posted.

and it says its adjusted for price changes over time, which would be exponentially different.

and again, theres literally zero reason to say its capitalism when it is literally just technology, and technology has always advanced, with occasional bursts, hence the whole theme of revolutions

Which is why they adjusted for it? I don’t understand your point

Why does technology advance faster under capitalist societies?
