Islamic naming convention is so neat though. Mohammed means “Praiseworthy” and is kinda an honorific more than anything. My buddy’s the oldest of 4 men and they all have the same first and last names. That friend gets called by the first name while the brothers go by the middle name. His first name means “Master”

It’s like the common family name 田中 in Japanese meaning “From the rice paddy” and having a farmer origin or like having the last name Smith in the UK, just with religious origin rather than profession

Names are such a fun thing to learn! My favorite fact is that women’s suffixes used to be way more common in the 19th century. Now it’s nearly obsolete because instead of naming daughters after themselves, they more frequently name them after the grandmother (or none at all)
