
It sounds fancy. The older English dialect it was written in has become solidified into what we interpret as being holy, like a newer version of Latin, Old Slavonic, or Coptic. The KJV English has become its own liturgical language. This is plainly reflected in how later religious writings attempt to copy it, such as Mormon holy texts. Because we have trouble understanding its “fancy” words, it makes holy characters seem prestigious.
