We need to have a serious discussion some day about how megachurches are just businesses and the people who go to them are suckers who bought into the scam
It’s the logical endpoint of American Christianity.
The Church becomes a corporation and the believers become consumers.

As a Catholic I can say that the visage of a single megachurch would have made Martin Luther pay his indulgences

Many (most) Christian’s are also against megachurches yes

I don’t think they think they’re getting scammed. I think this is something they’re doing knowingly and willingly.
It’s easier to be a proud consumer of MegaChurch Inc than it is to actually follow the religion.

1000%. It’s also the logical endpoint of believers who don’t know why they believe what they do. Ask the majority why they believe and you’ll get either a vague answer explaining their reasoning OR they’ll just say they were raised religious

full circle when you think about how protestantism is connected with the rise of capitalism

I consider Christians who go to megachurches an entirely different religion than your standard Christian. There is such a world of difference between the two

My church isn’t a mega church but unfortunately it’s very MAGA.
Not necessarily so but last week they were talking about being thankful (thanksgiving) while also whaling on the “evils of abortion”

I’m not religious anymore, but I do have a lot of respect for how humble the former Pope was. Very Christlike in his humility
