 As bad as things have gotten, I still think that Nazism isn’t mainstream yet and open support for Nazism makes most people, even Republicans, very disgusted. Do you think I am naive?

Most republicans view Nazis the same way they view communists. Its just some guy with an insane opinion and as long as he’s not harming anyone it doesn’t matter what opinion he has

Eh I don’t think you’re naive but I wouldn’t totally agree with the statement. I think a lot of republicans are totally fine supporting thinly veiled Nazi stuff like nick Fuentes

I think most peoples definition of Nazi is unfounded and a fear monger-ish. They interpret joke as fact, nick Fuentes is a good example. I don’t like the guy and will never agree with what he says but I’ve started to listen to him out of curiosity of his popularity and I do think he’s a sexist bigot. But, a Nazi? I can’t subscribe to that anymore, he simply states facts regarding Israel and the Jewish population, what he has been pinned as a Nazi for is clearly jokes.

Your mistake is thinking people are rational actors and not prone to cults of personality. Fascism is already here; they haven’t done the more explicitly Nazi stuff yet, but the road is being paved as younger people are much more radicalized than the average American with the desire to institute actual blatant Nazism

I know young conservatives tend to be way worse than middle aged and older republicans. Do you think the teenage Nazis will inherit the Republican party or will they change as they get older?

We live in dynamic times, if some Nazi named bigballz near our age group can immediately get appointed to positions of power it means they don’t really need to wait to inherit anything. By sidestepping that waiting period you miss a lot of that crucial period for growth. You can also only reason with reasonable people, those in cults don’t respond to it. They are in a trance and have fully drunk the koolaid, they will support anything Trump does or says no matter what

And ofc there are also the people that cry Nazi to those who take one step out of line, they are the truly delusional but, just like the “nazis”, I think there are far less of those types than is represented online
