Nobody said it would be easy, and we’ve been actively hurting Russia with sanctions and intel+funding+weapons to Ukraine.

It’s to help our allies win their war - which will benefit us because it’s against one of our mutual adversaries. If it was up to me, we’d be sending troops to Ukraine already, and have bombers on their way to Moscow.

NATO is a defensive alliance. Trump’s illegal three-day special military operation in Iran was an attack. We wouldn’t be obligated to join the UK if they invaded Argentina or the Poles if they invaded Belarus. Besides, he said he didn’t need their help and then came begging afterwards. That’s his fault, not theirs.

You greatly underestimate the power of ideological similarity - people do geopolitics for reasons beyond themselves all the time. Europe is our ideological ally - western democracies should stick together in the face of authoritarian attacks. It’s in our mutual interest to defend one another. United we stand, divided we fall - which is exactly why Russia has sown the seeds of division with groups like MAGA, Brexit and the AfD.

Besides, if we broke our agreements and attacked our allies, nobody would ever trust us again. The world is built on mutual cooperation. If we refuse to cooperate, we’ll be destroyed by our enemies.
