The Majority Report is pretty good at staying on top of the news. They’re a bit liberal from time to time, but overall remain pretty progressive

For news, I’d honestly just suggest AP. The headlines are succinct and constantly updating and you can springboard from there. At the beginning of the current administration they were publishing updates on a single page every five minutes or so.
