Yea the thing is these companies were not profitable for a limited amount of time usually at the start of their life span. The wnba has been around 50 years and has never once turned a profit and is consistently losing more and more money each year because of the lavish stuff the keep trying to spend. I looked into whether there’s a difference in how WNBA players are paid and their contract says they get 9.3% of league revenue while NBA players get roughly 50% of “basketball-related revenue”. Because of the distinction, even if WNBA jerseys start flying like hot cakes and way more tickets are sold, there’s no change in salaries. That’s kinda fucked, and then there’s the percentage difference
