If there’s inherent bias against people with a certain skin color in society, it’s not wrong to correct it. You aren’t being persecuted for not being black. Black people are just being given the same change as you.

No. They’re given much easier chances

Except race based discrimination is still wrong. Requiring White and Asian people to score higher on SATs is textbook discrimination.

Do you understand what I said in this post? Humor me for a second, and repeat what I said to me in your own words. Just gotta make sure, I’m fully sure you’re capable of doing that, so don’t feel condescended too just yet.

You’re justifying race based discrimination by claiming black people are prosecuted for being black

boy, you are in for a rude awakening when you find out the statistics of race-based discrimination in hiring practices, law enforcement, justice system sentencing, etc.

people have straight up done studies where they submit two mostly-identical resumes to companies with the only difference being one is presumably white and one is presumably black, based on the names. any guesses as to what tends to happen?

It’s different depending on the industry- some are much better than others. At the time, though, the worst offending companies had like a quarter difference which is kind of crazy Similar thing happened depending on gender as well.

I understand this may not fit with your worldview, but there’s been a lot of sociological research done to understand this kind of bias and quantify it. Notably, increased diversity tends to increase performance as well. You get a wider range of perspectives for innovation, and strong minds that might be passed over for reasons like their appearance get a chance to shine.

Forbes ran an article on that last bit a couple years back, companies committed to diversity had a significantly higher likelihood of outperformance.
