I will quite literally never apologize for not wanting to pay more in taxes.

I don’t think you should have to pay more in taxes. Us regular people are taxed plenty. I think the rich should have to pay more in taxes.

Define rich? Not to brag here but I’m going to be an MD. Median salary is like $450k a year with a ceiling of $1M+. Is that considered rich? Or are we talking billionaires only.

I mean that’s definitely on the higher income bracket where I think you should be taxed at a higher rate than like 80k a year earners. But generally we already have a system like that. But the super rich are more of a priority. They’re the ones who are evading so many taxes.

Top 1% are the main concern so those that make $650k+ per year

I personally think that if you’re making your income through your own individual labor (excluding small business owners) you’re exempt from the “tax the rich” argument. You’re actually putting in the work for that salary, but large corporate CEOs are not.

That’s not true. The bottom 50% of Americans pay only 3% of federal income tax. “Regular people” actually pay way less taxes than social services they receive

They also only hold 2.5% of wealth + income tax is only one type of tax, when you look at everything else combined, it’s a lot more regressive than just income tax

Be that as it may, I’m guessing the bottom 50% of earners (so hundreds of millions of people) drive as much as anybody else, use public infrastructure as much as anyone else… in fact they probably BENEFIT more than anyone else bc they use social welfare programs like Medicaid.

Is it supposed to be a gotcha that poor people can’t afford as many taxes???? No shit if someone is barely making enough to survive they won’t have money to be taxed.

Are you suggesting that poor people shouldn’t get social services bc they can’t afford them?

Top 1% at $650k to billions of dollars is a massive gap. Those people aren’t even in the same stratosphere. People making $650k a year are already paying an assload in taxes and shouldn’t be subjected to the same tax burden. For example, many surgical specialties would get absolutely fucked because a lot of them make $700k+ for 60+ hrs a week. Not fair they get shafted just for having a high paying job they worked their asses off for.

I wouldn’t say someone making $800k deserves the same tax burden as a billionaire but also that they pay too little currently

That’s kinda how taxes should work, poor people pay less, rich people pay more, so it’s fair for everyone
