Eh this is just one of the side effects of a country riddled with systemic racism, sometimes people overcompensate and defend members of an oppressed class even when they might not personally deserve much defense

Exactly. It’s misdirected grievance over a system that has absolutely failed Black Americans in the past. You can’t really blame them for not trusting a system that’s been continuously weaponized against them
