The world would be much worse without the flood. Trust me, the flood was the maximally good and loving action God could have done The animals deserved it yup

The world pre flood was worse, like to the point angels and humans had kids labeled nephilim, giants essentially, that terrorized humanity. Book of Enoch talks about this.

He promised to never do it again but that seems like admitting that that was a bad thing to do and the whole thing seems just pointless and evil idk

Like the world is wicked so let’s do the most wicked thing ever and have everything die just for humanity to regrow and become wicked again

Sorry I’m ranting now 😭 and yet we chose this event, which all the children and babies of the world also were killed, to decorate nurseries and as some cute story and toy

My favorite is when I ask why god would allow evil in the first place they say well are, he allows free will it’s a gift. Yes free will is when you drown everyone in the world bc you don’t like how they’re acting

Even as a kid in the church I didn’t understand. Like you’re telling me he also did things like going door to door and striking down every first born son unless they had blood on their door and I’m supposed to read a book of this stuff and think wow what a great guy I want to follow him

And then there’s the plan for all of us. At a time of his choosing, he will suddenly judge the living and all the dead thru history, and then commit a history-wide genocide of the billions of ppl who didn’t say some words in their head

Oh but Jesus gave people fish and bread and died on the cross and had a bad death (just like a million actual people) and gave up his mortal life just to basically live forever in heaven anyways so obviously I deserve eternal suffering for just not following him and that’s what a great and loving God would do

However, I am in the camp of Genesis being Israelite Oral tradition rather than what actually happened, most civilizations have a flood story bc they all lived by rivers, of course they’re going to see monsterous floods every few generations or so, just like the Israelites likely did
