Closed loop is far more expensive so most actually don’t use that. Also the construction and demolition of natural land pollutes the water to the point where it’s becoming undrinkable in certain communities. Data centers are also on the receiving end of many incentives which includes hiking energy rates of locals. Data centers also don’t employ a meaningful number of people once it’s operational so your employees flushing the toilet point is completely moot

Some are and some aren’t. Also no systems that large are purely closed loop, they’ll always need water to replenish what is inevitably lost. I do think the water wastage claim can be overblown at times but it’s not entirely misplaced either.

Even if AI used zero water it still consumes ridiculous amounts of electricity
