Why? I think it’s hilarious. Shouldn’t steal a candy bar, and shouldn’t steal a piano.

Why? It’s the stores product until sold, if I lift your car from the lot your gonna want full price back from insurance

don't need to waste public resources every time a candy bar is stolen. Stores should pay for more security if they don't want to be stolen from

Exactly and some people need to steal to survive. It gives the same energy as criminalized homelessness and anti homeless architecture

A lot of people need to steal in order to survive and this disproportionately impacts people of color. Doing this doesn’t help change the problem it just hurts people

They should let the law do its job instead of taking things into their own hands and hurting people

It doesn’t matter the price it’s worth, either way if you steal it you’re gonna get pinched or get away. The product either gets returned and they pay no fine or the product doesn’t come back at all, either way the stores not getting 900$ bucks from it especially from someone who stole it in the first place, they are getting face value back from the insurance company. It’s a scare tactic to prevent cleptos from stealing

Hey so degrees of larceny prevent people from going to jail for stealing candy bars, this rule changes that so everything is maximum sentence, I’m not saying it’s okay to steal, but the punishment should for the crime

The product, which the store owns, can set their inventory at any value they choose. Stores tend to follow price trends so customers are more likely to buy, and the discount is store price. If you steal the product, which is a crime, then they can chose whether or not they fine the criminal for the price they set, if they even catch them. The claim you’re defending is like saying if I shoot someone I should be put in jail less if they were 20 instead of 60, it’s a crime either way is it not?
