I grew up conservative evangelical and that’s where a lot of my friends came from too. When Jonathan Joss was murdered in an anti-gay hate crime, I reached out to several of my friends to express my belief that as Christians, we should be openly allying with queer ppl against such evil even if we believe they’re also “wrong”. I was blocked my most of them, and my name was dragged through the mud in that whole community. Because they WANT the violence, they just don’t want to be accountable.

Oh absolutely. It’s a little unknown, but the reason Uganda has the death penalty for gay people is because Evangelicals went over there to spread their religion, and that includes the parts abt wanting to kill queer ppl. If they could get away with it in the US, every LGBT person would be put in conversion therapy and if it didn’t work, take them out

Oh man I haven’t thought about the Uganda situation in a WHILE. There’s a mainline Protestant influencer basically dedicated to coordinating hostile takeovers of small mainline churches to turn them into fascist recruiting/indoctrination grounds. When we still spoke regularly, it often came back to his support for the anti-homosexuality statute in Uganda.
