
it’s true you can’t really quantify intelligence from a college degree, but you can at least measure experience. having a college degree is consistently used as a legitimate measure of level of education in spite of academic performance or field of study. moreover, you don’t have to specifically study political science to understand how policies will affect you and your community.
essentially what i’m saying is that individuals who do have a college education are more likely to have the resources to build cognitive skills like improved critical thinking and reasoning than individuals without a college degree, who more often than not don’t have those resources readily at their disposal. whether or not a college educated individual chooses to engage with those resources is on them, but i can’t say that a majority of students gain little to no improvement
