Ask anybody older than college age, racism was hardly discussed until 2014. Look at google searches over time. This is Obama’s fault

Yeah because racists couldn’t bear having a black president so we got the authoritarian alt right cult a.k.a MAGA

Nah man. He racebaited heavily. No normal person besides the fringe right gave a fuck what color this man was. He was just a charlatan.

You definitely have drank the koolaid with trump. Trumps 1st term might have had some legitimacy. But his 2nd term is only for revenge on anyone who criticized him he is setting America back decades with the way he’s turned into a authoritarian police state, ruined scientific institutions with years of excellence, and is now responsible for the 2 longest shutdowns in American history. The history textbooks will not be kind to trump he’s in this presidency for himself

That’s absolutely not true lol. Trump campaigned off Obama not having a US birth certificate

I’m in my late 20s and while the BLM movement definitely did put those conversations into the spotlight, it’s definitely not true that “racism was hardly discussed” It makes sense Google search data would trend up because when I was a kid, normies weren’t online all that much

that said, @OP the polarization in politics started getting bad in the mainstream with the tea party movement, and is more likely rooted with the launch of Fox News and its ilk (Limbaugh etc) in the 80s and 90s Trump took that opportunity and ran with it. He’s responsible for supplanting GOP “beliefs” with his cult of personality tho
