All companies should be capped at a certain profit margin, the rest of their profit should be spent on disadvantaged communities, schools, and hospitals

This would discourage any investment into more efficient production or new products.

Nah we can’t do that, it’s a required tax we’ll call it instead

A normal corporate income tax helps avoid these problems.

If you were a business, wouldn’t you want to find a way to make more money? Through the volume of sales, so the profit margin literally doesn’t matter

Let’s say 20% profit capped

Well yeah you would still want to scale up. But there’s no incentive to invest in more efficient production, only to invest in more production.

Also, what do you see as the main benefit of the “capped” profit over a more conventional corporate tax?

Efficient and more are quite literally the same thing essentially

The more thought I put into it a cap isn’t the best solution more of a very heavy tax on all of their profit beyond a certain profit margin

Well there is a distinction. Scaling looks like investment in a new factory that’s similar to existing factories. You still need the same amount of labor and materials to make a product so the profit margin stays the same Improving efficiency looks like investing in a current factory by automating, reducing waste or recycling materials (like most advanced steal mills do now)
