You do not “make” $7.25/hr. You are being forced to sell the labor of your body and life for $7.25/hr. Any politician that tries to tell you that you’re worth something to them as people while advocating against raising the minimum wage is full of shit.

There is nothing more insulting to life itself in the lense of modern humans than minimum wages because companies are saying you are worth less to me than this amount and so if I could pay you less I would.

If you’re being forced to sell it then why does the rate matter at all?

7.25 is disgusting, anyone advocating otherwise should be jailed.

In many cases it’s all small companies can afford

You clearly don't know how local economies work.

I don’t disagree that 7.25 is too low, but saying companies that pay that hate their workers is disingenuous. The point of a business is to make money.

How is it disingenuous? Have you seen CEOs pay rates as of the last decade?

I fully support welfare programs to help the poor with much higher taxes on the rich. Raising the minimum wage any higher disproportionately hurts small businesses that are trying to start up which only gives large businesses more power.

Completely would be behind this, or forcing companies to do a profit share program for workers

Very true, company I worked at had one where they profit shared straight revenue from sales and everyone got a pretty solid yearly bonus, but they were family owned so they didn’t have quite as much corporate greed

Consent 🥰

So you would consider it consent if you were paid $15 an hour?

Literally yes. Thats the entire point that I’m making, is that if companies want people to consent to giving time of their lives- that they won’t be able to get back- in the form of labor, then they should be reasonably compensated such that they can live a life where their needs are comfortably met. Not necessarily beyond that, not anything extravagant, but rather being granted the opportunity to prosper in such a socioeconomic status that those workers even can better contribute to society.

The whole of the US has already been losing countless amenities at a rapid pace because we keep treating minimum wage workers like shit, companies mostly but customers too. Because those workers don’t feel that they have anything to even look forward to, that that’s their life now. It is a lose-lose situation all around.

This is it. I speak of Americas empathy problem here constantly, but that's what I mean specifically.

I generally agree. There’s definitely a lack of community that I don’t think can be solely solved by wealth though. Also I’m not really sure why you used the socialist terminology if you’re just in favor of raising the minimum wage
