It was never discussed because there's a lot of nuance to it that if not explained in full, makes the situation seem completely different. Ex. Sometimes a couple tribal members would own slaves, but a large majority of the tribe actually takes in and marries black people- Lumbee tribe is one ex. But I bet you don't even know they exist. “We were never taught about-” anything. You were never taught about anything indigenous.
