Saw someone say this about rage against the machine once and I was flabbergasted. You don’t need to know every bit of trivia about a band to be a “real” fan, but come on

Rage against the machine is probably the most hilarious example of this because somehow people are completely shocked to find out that a band literally fucking called “rage against the machine” makes music about politics and actively speaks about politics in the press
