Trump threatened to cancel the Washington Commanders’ plan to rebuild RFK stadium if they don’t change their name back to the Redskins. Isn’t this the kind of stuff dictators do? Extortion when things don’t go unilaterally your way?

Yeah. I have a feeling the commanders will cave tbh, unless there’s *serious* pressure (but I’m an eagles fan so I shit on them all the time anyway)

I don’t think you’ve been to NW Stadium then. Sewage has leaked on fans, a railing fell on Jalen Hurts a couple years ago, making the fans leaning on it fall 10-15 feet, etc. Plus, the site of the old stadium is so much better, it’s actually in the city it represents, it’s accessible by Metro, and it has a much better view.

Well I’m not saying it’s amazing or anything, I’m just saying I don’t think it’s a genuine necessity for them to spend $4B on a new stadium. That being said, the Commanders and DC agreed to a plan and it really doesn’t matter to me whether or not they build the stadium. What I would care about is Trump throwing a fit and doing anything in his power to stop the stadium from being built in an effort to try getting the Commanders to change their name

Well yeah the stadium definitely isn’t great, all I was trying to say was I don’t think it’s like the most important thing for DC to spend $1B+ on with taxpayer money. That being said, they obviously want a new stadium and I do agree the fact that the current stadium is pretty dogshit puts a lot more pressure on them to go along with Trump. Hope they call his bluff though

I think the Trump thing isn’t about financing it, but approving the plans, as the DC City government elected by its citizens still isn’t 100% free from the federal government.
