People need other benefits: SNAP, housing vouchers, Medicare, etc. and still might end up on the streets, including children they had prior to disability. Yet if work didn’t jeopardize benefits (~ $1k a month) they might not end up in such situations. They would contribute (as many want) and that could lead to less dependence.
