What it actually does is serve as a 100% accurate litmus test for whether I should consider you a serious person on the topic. If you can’t condemn atrocities and acknowledge the right of the Israeli people to security, I’m not interested in starting a conversation.

people really be like “I know Israel has killed twenty thousand children in the past 3 years, but what we really should care about is the fraction of that in civilians in general Hamas has killed in 40 years”
