It has somewhere between 50-100 times the fatality rate of the average job, you work long days (18 hour shifts are common, and depending on the type you can be at sea for weeks at a time without seeing your family or friends

Tbf ive never done commercial fishing but i worked on a fishing charter one summer and it was fun as shit. Ofc it’s risky and people who do it for a career are brave
