You shouldn’t have said liberals. All the self-proclaimed leftists aren’t going to watch this then, and they’re the ones who really need to. Thanks for sharing this, because on Twitter I saw some black people saying “we don’t care, we still love her, we don’t need an apology” while I knew other black people likely didn’t agree with that

I do think it’s important to note that when she was in middle and high school (which is when she tweeted this), she was in Dubai, so it’s possible she wasn’t fully aware of the gravity of that word. Even though she lived in Houston until she was 9, her parents may not have discussed this with her. Nonetheless she absolutely should make a statement and apologize

To their credit, my comment could have come across as a “white savior” thing, which though it wasn’t my intention, as a white person I have no room to speak on issues of racial injustice. Just trying to show support. But my thoughts are ultimately irrelevant.
