Trump. They’re preparing for the eventuality of having to murder tens of millions of refugees when it becomes uninhabitable in basically all of South America.

Trump’s executive order from Jan 20 2025 entitled “Realigning the United States Refugee Program” called for agencies to investigate climate change’s effects on migrant groups.

Are you sure? I’m pretty sure EO 14163 revoked that. “Executive Order 14013 of February 4, 2021 (Rebuilding and Enhancing Programs To Resettle Refugees and Planning for the Impact of Climate Change on Migration), is hereby revoked.”

I have zero clue why tf that link was removed (it said something about posting names?) but here’s the relevant paragraph from 14013, which was revoked by Trump

I stand corrected, my apologies still very strange he’s turning to coal for energy

No worries, it’s kinda confusing. But it’s not strange to turn to coal when everything you’ve done is a gift to the coal companies. Getting rid of the MSHA rule that protected miners from silica dust (causes black lung), getting rid of many alternative energy credits, etc

Also, it’s very abundant here, so coal is an easy (but awful) solution to satisfying the increasing power needs of datacenters

I still think we should be moving to energy sources which don’t pollute our environment further. nuclear has gone a long way and produces little waste, and for some reason trump is against wind power coal is archaic. we need to progress if we want to stay a world power.

I think Trump and conservatives are against wind power because it looks unsightly, especially when there are proposals for offshore wind farms in front of large beach towns (this seems to be the case for Ocean City, MD). But in the middle of nowhere on land or very far into the ocean (provided it doesn’t affect marine life)? Idk why they care

as if smog from coal plants are any less unsightly. i’d rather see wind turbines a mile off the coast than deal with respiratory issues

Oh definitely. And idk why he isn’t looking towards natural gas since that has taking coal’s share of the electric grid lately. I assume it’s probably the result of lobbying and requests from states that still have coal as a large part of their economy

it’s def got to do with the money coming towards him or our federal government big oil was in both of the bush’s pockets too

Tbh I think they just don’t like any kind of renewable energy because to them, supporting it would be an admission that climate change is real. Even if it makes sense economically or to reduce pollution

Lobbying is surely a big part of it as well like you mentioned

entirely agree. they’re too deep in the narrative they’ve painted to back out now, and the lobbying/money they receive is only further reason for them to continue
