This is a genuine question- no hate at all, but how do you follow communism/marxism while continuing to participate in organized religion? I thought that was a big No when it came to communist theory? I’m very curious

communist theory (at least Marx) doesn’t have any objection to religious faith in itself. Marx (rightly) identifies religion as something which both soothes the proletariat in their exploration and also keeps them under control.

I mean if you wanna get into it, early Christian’s practiced a form of socialism/communism within their communities. The teachings of Jesus align much more closely with a communal lifestyle than our current capitalist one -queer leftist ex-Catholic

Appreciate the no-hate brother! From what I’ve seen/experienced, much of the anti-religious interpretation of communism comes from many regimes religious suppression, which most serious communists believe is misguided. I personally find that the fundamental religious values and early Christian practices are in line with communism/socialism, certainly more than capitalism.

I can definitely see that!! Thanks so much for the reply, I know a lot of anti-religion communists and I’m definitely going to be bringing this up next time we’re talking about theory. I’m definitely of the opinion where you can have both communism and spirituality, but a lot of people disagree with me haha but you phrased it very well
