They have to both regret it and put in the effort to make it so they don’t fall for this shit again. Going “Trump bad” and then voting for JD Vance is not atonement. That just makes more, less incompetent evil happen. They need to not fall for demagogues again, and realize why Trump’s rhetoric has been bad for the last 10 years.
