This is just an advancement of the prison-industrial complex, too. Immigrants who can’t obtain legal status (because of backlog, barriers to entry, poor systems, etc) are pressured to work under the table and in labor-intensive, low-paying jobs
Companies like core civic get a crap tone of money for each immigrant put into detention centers they own, and they also are a lobbying group. They lobby for things like increased ice quotas and making it harder to seek asylum.

And, similar to how prison labor/mass privatization operates, corporations receive the large share of benefits. Farmers/businesses provide crops to retailers who short them on their wages, too. And they can lose subsidies, land, labor, and income for not meeting quotas or having sustainable growth.
