The long-term strategic failure of the middle east wars is so well known that I think most people have no idea how absurdly lopsided the actual conventional war parts of them were, like that is the best example we’ve ever seen of how huge the gulf is between the world powers and the regional ones.

I think this is an amazing stat actually. As everyone has pointed out lately, violent crime is near all time lows. This stat mostly just highlights how few American troops have died in the last half century relative to previous eras.
