Apparently if the establishment knew what won elections, they would be winning no? Or is it a “ah they don’t care what the people represent think” sort of thing?

The establishment isn’t good at winning elections, but targeting the President in the midterm is a strategy as old as time. People are more likely to vote against Trump than a Republican senator they’ve never heard of. Also, the environment just isnt an issue voters care about unfortunately. Most think they’re being fear mongered

Also the strategy they’re running now is nothing like the one they ran in 2024. Candidates are playing to the left in states Trump won

I’m not entirely sure that’s a great strategy either… when there’s an ongoing siege, focusing resources deep within the oppositions territory may lose ground recently considered “safe”.

Like the focus on Gavin in California is a tell of some kind. They either have a hidden card they are waiting to play against him and timing it out, but California, being what in past decades was considered perhaps THE central hub for the left, is uncharacteristic of how the conservatives have previously treated California approaching a midterm. There’s something going on between the parties, that’s similar to what you just said, “the strategy is nothing like the one they ran in 2024” only 1/2
