Yeah fiat currency (and gold-backed too) are really dependent on people’s faith in the government Commodity backed is resistant to inflation but like the government can literally just say “oh yeah it’s only worth 0.5 golds now” if they’re broke

no, this is literally the point. Whether or not cryptocurrency has the ability to withstand inflation or even work as a wide scale currency is completely separate from the Hunter Biden thing.
