ok, since it seems we are all in agreement - what should we do about conditions for immigration detainees in the US?

do you think people in immigration detention deserve humane conditions - access to adequate food, water, sanitation, medicine, and legal counsel? (this isn’t a question about whether people should be detained. I want to get vibes on “okay” conditions)

This may be kind of a weird stance for the right but I don't actually think we should forcefully deport all people who've illegally immigrated here. I think we should financially support the remigration to their home countries and improvement of those who want to do that, and allow those who truly share the American cultural values and identity and actually want to stay here to stay here.

When I say improvement I mostly mean providing them financial aid to ease the process in movement and resettlement and helping transfer of assets

yeah, im on the left and I’ve always thought the real way to treat the root cause of illegal immigration from Latin America was to invest in fixing the material conditions that drive people out of their homes. And then if people want to be here regardless, it means they love our country for what it is and that’s great. stability throughout the Americas helps everyone

plus I do think the US having a laissez faire attitude toward humanitarian crises in a lot of these nations leaves open a vacuum for our adversaries to create close connections with countries physically near to us, which does stand to become a national security risk
