If he’s talking like all slaves ever, yeah the majority weren’t black - if he’s talking in the US he’s wrong.

They are allegedly right about the amount of slaves and skin color. If we go by the entire world/time: Ottomans traded all races they encountered, the Slavic countries were named that because … Slav = slave and that’s roughly 90% of their history. Perhaps one of the worst transgressions of black slavery was Saudi Arabia though: notorious for castrating black Islamic pilgrims making their way to Mecca.

Hell you could mention shit like the Spartan slave system or early forms of Arabic or Norse slavery based around capturing and raiding, but after the year 1500 basically all slavery was race based slavery.

Yeah and how slaves were taken as prisoners of war until we had forms of slavery in which entire people-groups were a permanent underclass. Iirc Romans did let their slaves move up in society at points (which like, no you should not oppress people, but it is a different kind of oppression than American slavery)

I think some people shouldn’t get to breed and hopefully their own stupidity keeps them from doing so

You’re using semantics to defend someone who said “not all slave owners were bad” ??

Read the first sentence of my post one more time please. Generally, and I don’t mean to sound condescending, the first sentence indicates the focus of the following sentences. If it’s specific, as mine was, it does not agree with the entire premise it is responding to.

You are still defending him. If you saw the post that this comment was on, it was very clear he was talking abt American slaves. Regardless though, defending someone who made this statement even if you don't agree is just as bad and ignoring the point.

I’ll be the judge of what my actions and intent were while speaking, not random strangers on the internet.

Your intention could've been in good faith but you still choose to ignore blanant racism and defend someone who was very much in the wrong since like i said. The original post was referencing American slavery. No one likes a cocky smart ass.

It appears you might be one of the people who has a mental block when considering multiple hypotheticals. In the name of science, with hope good faith can be restored: How would you feel if you did not eat dinner yesterday?

I'm not even sure what you are talking about at this point but i'm done discussing this with you. You ignored the point of this post to comment on something irrevelent since the OOP was about American slavery. A man wishing a women was black so he could buy and own her. You choose to ignore ALL of that and just point out that majority of slaves weren't black when that little has nothing to do with anything and the proceed to be cocky and rude when all I was doing was calling you out.

It’s a simple question, how would you feel if you didn’t eat dinner yesterday?

You were insensitive and out of line, and it gave them impression that you excused the racism with both the comment of the original post. Doesn't matter if you were right or wrong. If you don't see it that way, then I can't help you.

I don't converse with people who ignore racism and refuse to own up to there insensitive actions. As I said. I'm done talking to you and might even block up if you keep replying to me.
