Mostly joking but it’s a term referring to the type of progression that happened on the Balkan Peninsula after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, where one large country/region splits into several smaller independent ones

Don’t actually think it would be the worst for us given our size, varying density, massively diverse regional cultures, governance issues, and history of exercising brutal neocolonial/imperialist power around the world. But there’s not really a way for it to happen that wouldn’t involve significant conflict and suffering after, so I’m not really serious
