it’s been embarrassing for a while. but we’ve been able to keep up the facade long enough that it was irrelevant. we lost most of our remaining goodwill when we started the GWOT. we haven’t had shit going on since fairchild semiconductor got bought out. china’s manufacturing SCALE has outclassed us for a while, but the difference in quality of chinese manufacturing vs like, just 10 years ago is night and day. we’re in the twilight years of the empire.

oh 100%. and once again, that’s the ONE thing we could maybe have gotten an edge. they stomp on us basically everywhere else. except maybe weapons but. i’m not really proud of that. it’s embarrassing to be a country who’s driving force of innovation is killing.

*technically* TI has semiconductors as well, but yeah they aren’t really in the consumer product business. Intel being bought (even if only partially) by the feds is a sign the same way as General Motors

i work with a lot of TI products and they are mostly shit. they’re shit but they work, so they’ve stuck around for a while.
