My think about Marx, he never thought that people would read that pamphlet and go “yeah, we can do that”. It’s the first page where he goes: in a utopian society. And he had a falling out with his best friends Engle, bc of his non serious approach to their writings.

Marx wasn’t nearly as popular during his lifetime. The reason we know his name today, (and not a different socialist) is because of the Bolsheviks.

yup! bc of Lenin’s extremist interpretations of the book. And Lenin wasn’t a popular “communist” at the time. He was criticized heavily by like minded individuals.

I’m not saying they did. Both of you didn’t even reply to the actual points i made in my post. But Lenin’s “ideas” ran the Soviet Union for their entirety, they just suffered from the effects of authoritarian regimes, which communism does need, and corruption, which is happening now in our post capitalist society. Most “communist” in previous times just really wanted radical socialism. Which isn’t crazy.

I’m not supporting capitalism I’m telling people to read Marx because vaguely hating capitalism isn’t productive. Furthermore, just having social safety nets isn’t socialism/communism, people should understand the relationship between labour and capital to see why the system is inherently exploitative regardless of whether they have free healthcare or not
