Celebrating the US right now is some deeply nationalistic behavior and anyone who views America 250 even remotely positively needs a psych evaluation. 4th of July as a whole has always been questionable at best but America 250 is just plain disgusting.

When you live in a time where criticizing your country is necessary and arguably obligatory and yet you praise it, that is nationalism

You can celebrate the country and want it to thrive while also critiquing current politics. Given that this country allows the freedom of speech to do that, celebrating would be arguably something a critic should do

Our flag is seen as a symbol of fear and oppression across the globe and you want to further spread it?

as far as I can tell, symbol of fear and oppression “across the globe” in practice means Iran, Turkey, and Vietnam. Meanwhile Nigeria, Poland, Japan, and Kenya view it favorably. Almost like history isnt a clean cut line, and youve been drinking deep of the “everyone hates us and the US is bad and evil all the time to all people forever and you’re evil for being American” propaganda
