woodrow wilson held this “holier than thou” mindset during world war 1 hoping the european powers would destroy themselves and view the US as this deity to look up to so he didn’t join the war. among every other thing he did in office

Jackson with the Indian Removal Act (Trail of Tears) as well as his association with the Spoil System Hoover's economic actions turned the US recession in the late 1920s to the Great Depression

Reagan and Johnson I think had the worst long-term impact on us with their policies (fucking up Reconstruction, Reaganomics), Jackson was just a complete piece of shit, Bush for the same reasons OP listed, Trump because, y'know, we're currently being plunged into a fascist hellhole and I've seen a lot of my friends already being directly harmed by his administration's actions

I'm waiting for Trump to finish his second term before putting him on the list but if he were to just end it right now he would definitely be up there

Johnson genuinely fucked America over to this day Reagan enshrined Christian nationalism into this country and neoconservative policies that have led to fascism Wilson curbed a bunch of civil rights and was just awful Bush curbed even more and allowed for gov spying…

Trump is the logical endpoint of all of those former presidents and is currently sending us into a fascist hellscape Biden, Harding, Jackson, and Nixon (ran out of space for the other two) are all honorable mentions. Biden for not clamping down on rising fascism and the genocide of the Palestinians. Jackson for genocide too. Harding for normalizing corruption and Nixon for the war on drugs and war crimes alongside Kissinger

I'll give you the genocide thing but what could he really do about Trump?

After Jan 6th, Biden legit should have told Garland to go Joker mode on all the republicans who voted against certifying the election post attempted coup. Investigate them all and possibly charge them for insurrection. The same for Trump and his cabinet at the time It wouldn’t have even been unpopular considering even right wing media at the time was pissed at Trump, and multiple Republicans who DID vote to certify the election spoke out against those who didn’t

Not doing so gave the message they could get away with breaking the law with minimal to no consequences. And we are seeing that take place rn as Trump ignores the courts

That's fair Also, my honorable mentions would be Biden, Hoover, Truman, and John Adams Biden for the Palestinian genocide and generally being a senile fuck who should have retired a long time ago; Hoover for the Depression and such; Truman for the atomic bombings, Cold War militarization, and recognizing Israel against the advice of his advisors; and John Adams for introducing political partisanship into the Presidency after Washington warned against it, and for the Alien and Sedition Acts

Honestly though every president was bad in their own way, and I think Jimmy Carter was the only one who ever earned any kind of redemption

Yeah exactly One of the few who wasn't straight up evil in some major way and also the only one who seemed to realize the evil nature of the office and basically spent the rest of his life atoning for it Carter is probably the only President in heaven tbh

Honestly Hoover gets more hate for his economic policies than deserved. His policy was do the same thing we have been doing for the past decades. He made genuine attempts to try to fix this an and tried to make pushes but didn’t have the political support to do anything. I feel like Woodrow Wilson would be a better candidate. Got America in WW1 late so we didn’t get anything really. Revived the KKK with creating the lost cause doctrine and resegregated the White House
