I think you may be underestimating the degree of tribalism other cultures have, overestimating the resiliency of our economic system + resources, and are not cynical enough of the people who purport to represent us/the government’s ability to effectively manage such a process. There are few things in this life I despise more than traffic, 1 billion Americans would make that much worse. Opting for extremes in anything is usually terrible policy imo

Yes. Social security is paid for by setting aside a fraction of your yearly wage that is then given back to you when you retire. I fail to see how this is relevant

That’s why you tax the new people working jobs for social security… you do realize you don’t get social security unless you’ve worked and paid social security taxes (for a minimum of 10 years)
