There’s just no way that’s what you took from this movie and not “killing people is bad and wrong, and the people with tanks who were POINTING GUNS AT CHILDREN should be stopped”

I love how the moral of the story is explicitly “Superman does not kill but his friends do. Kill every member of the IDF” That’s not subtext or me reading too deep into it, that is explicitly what the message is

It’s Russia though, it’s been in production for a while

One of them is literally an ally to the USA who we send weapons to trying to occupy the land of their neighboring country full of Arabs

Also you think Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory is new politics? It’s been going on since 1948

It’s not 1:1, but it’s Russia. It was written right after they invaded Ukraine.

Again, do you think that the occupation of Palestinian territory is a new thing? Do you think it all just started in 2023?

It wasn’t one of the issues that people talked about regularly, no

Do you think something has to be extremely mainstream to be part of a story? Also do you not think that rewrites happen all the time?

1) no, but smaller conversations aren’t what people typically write about, especially for a big movie like this. 2) they didn’t rewrite the whole story

How do you know if they rewrote massive parts of the script or not? Did you work for Warner brothers?

Because I know that entire movies aren’t rewritten unless they test awfully with audiences, an actor dies, or something else like that. Not because writers have new ideas.

How do you know it didn’t initially test poorly with audiences? That stuff is private information that doesn’t get out unless something leaks

Mainly because of the timeline. When that happens, movies get pushed back about a year. Also, it always comes out.

Wait a minute, do you not realize that if this was representative of Russia and Ukraine then there wouldn’t be the US government on the side of the Russians, right? How tf does this analogy even work when part of the conflict is how Superman is “anti American” for siding with the side America isn’t backing? Is Superman a fan of Putin?

Like I said, things like this are never 1:1, because the studios don’t want to have to explain certain parts. Further, a lot of people in the American government are trying to work in Russia’s interests.

russia is still thought of as like the antithesis of a us ally

I don’t think the right treats them as such

If we go by your own logic, we’re American people working for the interests of Russia under the Biden administration? That’s when work on the film was started, so by your own logic, that would mean Biden is pro Russia

No, there were still republicans in Congress

idk they still arent an ally tho i could see how maybe it was initially written to allude to russia ukraine but was rewritten to be more about israel palestine

There have been republicans and Zionists in Congress since 1948 but ok

I mean, it’s great timing, but only because of a coincidence

Then if it was written about Israel and Palestine, only to come out with lucky timing, THAT DOESNT CHANGE THAT ITS ABOUT ISRAEL AND PALESTINE

I like to think about the Bob Dylan song “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” as being about climate change, others like to think it’s about nuclear war. It’s not about either, and he still didn’t write it about either.
