I know we all hate the major investment firms like Blackrock and State Street but their involvement in housing is not the reason housing is so expensive. It’s completely a supply issue. There are not enough homes

It’s both. There are plenty of houses in the US, but many are unaffordable, there’s not enough in areas where people want to/are living, lack of government funding for projects or programs, unadjusted wages, etc. Major investment firms go after high-revenue developments; without incentives, affordable resources, and access, “low income” (affordable) housing projects freeze. Hot mess

This is literally just wrong. There have nearly always been enough homes/housing to house every single person in the United States. It simply has never happened because we prioritize and arbitrarily valued piece of paper over people’s lives
