The real reason purity culture was pushed so hard way back in ye olden days was because it was the only contraceptive they had. If people were sleeping with each other all the time the amount of unwanted children would be through the roof. Now we have leaps and bounds of measures to prevent that, but the concept of virgin=pure and non virgin=bad just kinda… stuck
