Depends on what he gets regarding the nukes.

Agree- if this is a significant change from the 2015 deal, then it’s one US objective done

But does it? Iran isn’t stupid enough to nuke us. They know we’d bomb them into a memory if they ever tried

Well duh, but for example North Korea having nukes means that South Korea won’t invade them It is unfortunately an incredibly effective deterrent, even if they will never actually use them

Why is that unfortunate?

Have you ever been in a team deathmatch in a video game and it’s obvious you’re gonna lose? At that point you have two options: quit the game or try and take as many enemies with you as possible before you lose. Me and plenty of others prefer the latter. The US can’t risk Iran adopting a similar line of thought in a worst case scenario, especially if they have nukes. To Iranian leaders, it doesn’t matter if they go down if they can take “the Great Satan” with them.

It has to be achieved for Trump to claim “victory”. Otherwise he’s back at square one and with a harder story to spin

We created that situation with the invention of the nuke. Iran doesn’t contribute uniquely to that possibility. And, if Iran ever got into a conflict like that, you can be damn sure someone (probably us) would take out their silos long before they considered pressing that button

You’re right, other countries have nukes and represent threats. However, Iran is part of a unique group that relies on hatred for the US and its allies as foreign policy. Furthermore, Iran becoming a nuclear power would upset the political balance in the Middle East in favor of our enemies, giving them much more sway to make more. And if they decide to launch one day, we might take out their silos, or we might not. Better to strike a deal now so we never get to that point.

It’s unfortunate in the sense that Iran obviously has a big reason to want to be nuclear capable since they keep getting attacked
